Whiplash and Car Accident Injuries
The neck is thrown through a range it was not braced for. Symptoms often arrive a day or two later, once the initial adrenaline has gone.

What it is
Understanding whiplash / car accidents
We assess the neck, mid-back and jaw together, because a collision rarely affects only one of them. Getting seen early tends to make the rehabilitation phase shorter.
Documentation matters after an accident. We keep clear records of what we find and how it changes over the course of care.
What is behind it
Where it usually comes from.
Rapid acceleration and deceleration. The head keeps moving after the body has stopped, straining the soft tissue of the neck.
An unbraced impact. Being struck without seeing it coming means the neck muscles never had a chance to guard.
Head position at the moment of impact. A turned head at impact loads one side of the neck far more than the other.
Pre-existing restriction. A neck that was already stiff has less range to absorb the movement.
How we treat it
Our approach to whiplash / car accidents.
Early care focuses on restoring the motion you have lost, then progresses into strengthening so the neck can hold the range once it has it.

“The purpose of chiropractic care is not the treatment of conditions or disease; rather, it is the restoration of normal body function.”
