Planning Your First Visit

Your first visit to ACSIC begins with us getting the standard new patient information and paperwork from you.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled start of your appointment

  • Come prepared with your insurance card and or all necessary documentation concerning payment for your treatment.

The Exam

Your care begins with a thorough, one on one examination, where the doctor will evaluate your history, perform orthopedics tests and assess your range of motion and functional movement patterns, and finally diagnose and discuss the condition and/or injury that brought you in. We do not take x-rays in our office; however, if you have previous imaging, please bring it in so we can better serve you. If imaging is necessary to rule out or confirm a diagnosis or symptoms are severe, the Chiropractor will write the necessary order and refer you to an imaging facility.

The examination portion of your visit provides the Chiropractor with a clear understanding of the cause of your condition and assists in determining the biomechanical faults at the root of your pain and discomfort. We assess the entire body, because the symptom you are recognizing may be referred from somewhere else. ACSIC is trained to address the entire body, not just the spine, in order to properly and efficiently help you back to action.

Treatment

You will receive treatment at your initial visit, if deemed safe to do so. Treatment begins with a chiropractic adjustment to realign the spine and/or joint specific to your condition and/or injury. The misalignment is called a subluxation, and is simply defined as one vertebra displacing itself on top of the one below it. If you prefer, we may use a tool known as an Activator, to realign the spine/joint. For your added comfort, we also utilize a uniquely designed chiropractic table that will help the doctor perform the adjustment, which may eliminate the “cracking” noise that can be associated and feared in chiropractic.

In addition to traditional Chiropractic manipulation, the doctors of ACSIC will use a special soft tissue technique called Active Release Technique or ART, which makes us unique to most Chiropractors in the area. ART is a precise stretch where the Chiropractor will specifically focus on the afflicted soft tissue relieving spasms, muscle tightness, and nerve entrapments, almost instantly. Manually addressing the soft tissue is critical for stabilizing the spine and/or joint associated with your condition or injury. Also, by addressing both the subluxation and the soft tissue around it, your healing time is cut down dramatically.

Finally, your treatment is finished with corrective exercises to stabilize the injured area and ultimately over time, prevent future injury. At the close of your visit, the treating Chiropractor will recommend a treatment plan designed to generate and achieve healing as quickly as reasonably possible, and return you to the active lifestyle you wish to live.
